Athlete Update: Kare Adenegan

We love hearing what our athletes have been up to out on the track and this week we heard news of Kare Adenegan, a wheelchair racer who competes in a READY funded chair.

First up Kare has been selected to represent Team GB in 100m, 400m and 800m at the IPC World Championships in Doha, Qatar, 21st – 31st October 2015. This selection makes her the youngest member of the GB team

It’s no surprise that Team GB have snapped her up. Kare’s 2015 season has been incredible, seeing her rise to the top five world ranking in all her events from 100m to 1500m. Just take a look at her times!

100m* 18: 89s (2nd World) (2014 19.44s)

200m 34.04s (5th World) (2014 35.73s)

400m* 62.68s (2nd World) (2014 67.00 s)

800m* 2mins:04s (2nd World) (2014 2mins:11s)

1500m 3mins:59s (2nd World) (2014 4mins:23s)

In this amazing season, last week, Kare inflicted the first ever defeat on Hannah Cockroft in seven years at any distant. Hannah is the Double Paralympian, World Champion, European Champion and multiple world record holder and lead athlete in the T34 Women’s wheelchair racing category.

Kare broke the senior women world record in the 1,500 metres at the Age Group Disability Games (unratified) as it was in a mix race, as opposed to a women only race.
