26th Alan Halfpenny Charity Golf day at Fulwell Golf Club
The 26th Alan Halfpenny Memorial Charity Golf day took place at Fulwell Golf Club on the 6th April, and what an amazing day it turned out to be. The sun was shining, the greens were in excellent condition and a great competition took place. As usual, Fulwell staff were extremely welcoming and hosted a fantastic day.
The event attracted more teams than in previous years and raised in excess of £8,000 for the READY charity. The day was complemented by an appearance from REAdY Paralympian and Rio Silver Medalist, Toby Gold, who gave an inspirational talk on what REAdY has meant to him and many other disabled children who do not have the means to participate in any sporting activity.
He addressed the audience saying “if it were not for READY, I wouldn’t be standing here with this” as he held up his Rio 2016 Paralympics silver medal. He sincerely thanked everyone for their continued support on behalf of himself and everyone whom READY had supported over the years.
Toby passed his medal around the golf teams and posed for photographs afterwards. The feedback received so far by READY shows what a huge impact Toby’s address made.
READY would like to thank Fulwell Golf Club again for their continued support over the years and for making the day such a massive success.
