28th READY Golf Day at Fulwell GC

The 28th Annual READY Golf day was held at the excellent Fulwell Golf Club on Thursday 4th April. Despite the slightly damp weather, it was well supported with 24 teams taking part. They deserve our all out thanks for their continued support of the charity. It is our biggest fundraising day of the year, and so many individuals and teams return year on year to support our work and to give disabled children an opportunity to participate in sport.

Brilliantly organised by Trustee Jeff Thomas, the competition took place on the Fulwell golf course which was in fantastic condition, the greens were simply outstanding for the time of year. Our thanks go to Secretary Murray Cook and his staff, who looked after us all superbly well.

The competition was won by Wimbledon Commoners, led by Chris Wilson. Chris, with his stint as Captain of his club, had made READY his charity of the year, and has raised an astonishing amount of money, even having his head shaved in support of us. In addition to his winners’ prize, he received a plaque to recognise his efforts.

STOP IT, led by Steven Medland, finished second, three points behind Wimbledon, and Weapons of Grass Destruction came third, a further five points behind.

Clandon Regis Golf Club also received a special recognition award for their continued support for the charity.

A huge success, and we will announce the date of next year’s event as soon as possible. Thank you again to all the participants.
