READY athlete raises funds and awareness at London Marathon

On 23rd April 2017, thousands of spectators lined to streets of London to watch participants take part in the 2017 London Marathon. The event is always well covered in the press, with professional runners leading a pack of fancy dress clad fundraisers, personal best beaters and on this occasion our very own, Sean Jones

As a READY wheelchair athlete, Sean decided at short notice that he was going to sport the READY shirt in the London Marathon this year to not only raise money for READY, but also raise awareness about what it is we do. Sean said “I completed the marathon in 2:03:20, and as it was my first, I am chuffed with that”. And so he should be. Not only did Sean complete the course in a fantastic time, he also managed to raise £225.00 for the charity.

He added “I intend to participate in the race again next year provided all goes well. I would like to thank Ready for all the support they’ve given me, I really appreciate it”.

Congratulations Sean and Thank you from everyone at READY.
