Colin Herridge (1940-2022)

Colin Herridge a founder Trustee and former Chairman of our charity sadly passed away last Monday at Kingston Hospital. Colin was instrumental in forming the charity in 1993 after the great success in providing equipment, training and facilities for disabled youth by the then Mayor of Richmond upon Thames in his year in office.

Colin was passionate to help all youngsters take part and achieve their dreams in sport. He would always be the first to volunteer to help run the car park at international match days at Twickenham to raise funds for the charity. He knew what difference this would make to youngsters’ lives.

Colin was a sportsman through and through and his love for game of Rugby lead him from playing scrum half for Nottingham University to become the CEO of Harlequins RFC, Executive member of the Rugby Football Union Committee, Media Director for the England team, Executive Committee member of Esher Rugby and Old Surbitonians

Colin was a true gentleman and a very successful Businessman. After selling his family business to Reuters, he went on to become a Director of the Slug and Lettuce Chain, Hayter’s Sports Agency and Grosvenor Inns plc.

Amongst many of his awards received over the years in 2016 he was presented with a Honoury doctorate from Nottingham University.

We are honouring his memory in naming our Golf Day at Fulwell on 31 March the Colin Herridge memorial Golf Day in recognition of all the youngsters he has helped to take part in sport.

Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time, rest in peace Colin you are a legend.
